It’s October, it’s Autumn, it’s cold and it’s rainy so what better way to spend your weekend than curling up in front of the telly with our top picks.


Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, ITV1, tonight 9pm

Ronan Keating was the floppy haired blond lead singer who was adored by fans. He had it all; a beautiful wife, fame and fortune and was blessed with three children before an extra marital affair changed his life forever. He also is no stranger to heartache after losing his mother to cancer at a young age and fellow Boyzone member Stephen Gately. Prepare for Piers Morgan to grill him about the affair while drawing out his innermost emotions and asking him about his newfound love.

John Bishop: The Sunshine Tour, BBC1, tonight 10.35pm

John Bishop has come a long way in recent times. He’s got more famous as his teeth have got whiter however despite being a quiz show regular, he’s also a stand up comic at heart and tonight we can see him going back to his roots in his hometown stage for extended highlights from his latest stand-up routine.

Strictly Come Dancing, BBC1, Saturday 6th October, 6.30pm

Finally after all the photoshoots and warm ups it’s time for the competition to take shape. The BBC are hoping to triumph over ITV again this year although tomorrow, the two shows don’t clash so you can watch both. Kick off your evening with Strictly which has some great competitors this year; namely gymnast Louis Smith, Denise van Outen, Kimberley Walsh and Victoria Pendleton. Half the hopefuls will be dancing the night away tonight and the other half tomorrow.

The X Factor, ITV, Saturday 6th October, 8pm

The live shows always create fresh buzz for the show and this year is no different. 13 acts will perform live and we also get to see who won the wildcard vote from this week. Either Christopher Maloney, Adam Burridge, Amy Mottram or Times Red will join the finals 12, Gary Barlow’s Melanie Masson, Carolynne Poole and Kye Sones, Nicole Scherzinger boys James Arthur, Rylan Clark and Jahmene Douglas, Tulisa’s girls Jade Ellis, Ella Henderson and Lucy Spraggan and Louis Walsh’s groups GMD3, MK1 and Union J. The results of who goes through to next week are on Sunday at 8pm.

Homeland, Sunday, Channel 4, 9pm

Sunday night’s have just got a whole lot better as Homeland is back for a second series, just one week after it airs in the US. In tonight’s episode we see how Carrie is rehabilitating after her electroconvulsive therapy at the end of the season one. News reaches her that one of her former assets has contacted the US embassy in Beirut with information on an attack in the US meanwhile in Washington DC, Nicholas Brody is seen facing new decisions that will affect his allegiances.

Friday Night Dinner, Sunday, Channel 4, 10.05pm

Friday Night Dinner returns for a second series with Jonny in a foul mood, as he discovers a secret betrayal while reading Adam’s childhood diary – and vows to get revenge. Their mum struggles to contain her sons’ feud. Comedy starring Simon Bird, Tom Rosenthal, Tamsin Greig and Paul Ritter.
